Police Colonel John Francis Encinareal, CIDG-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the two suspects as Diosdado Antawag, 62, and Marymie Bacquial, 30, who were arrested in the anti-gambling campaign dubbed “Oplan Bolilyo.”
Encinareal said Antawag was arrested around 5:50 p.m. Sunday, September 4, in Purok Santan, Santa Maria village, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
Seized from Antawag, who was caught in the act of collecting illegal swertres bets, P20 marked money, a cellular phone, P1,150 cash in different denominations bet money, and other illegal gambling paraphernalia.
Encinareal said that Bacquial was arrested around 4:53 p.m. Friday, September 2, in Purok 4, New Basak village, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.
He said Bacquial was caught collecting bets for the illegal numbers game.
Recovered from her possession were P340 bet money and illegal gambling paraphernalia.
Encinareal said that two were taken to the CIDG-Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Office for documentation and appropriate action. (SunStar Zamboanga)
