As Twitch plans to prohibit gambling, Felix “xQc” Lengyel has made it known he’s not sorry for having been the main streamer driving the popularity of the controversial category.
As big-name streamers started coming forward to condemn Twitch for supporting gambling, even contemplating a strike, the streaming platform finally cracked. It announced last week that it would no longer allow gambling on unlicensed sites, which was seen as a big W for the community.
But many wondered what would come of xQc’s stream now that one of his favorite pastimes would no longer be allowed on the site. The self-proclaimed “mentally ill” streamer was addicted to gambling, spending hundreds of thousands a month on sites that are no longer allowed to be shown on a Twitch broadcast.
xQc responds to ongoing drama over gambling streams
xQc had a partnership with one of the sites now prohibited on Twitch, leaving him to contemplate what he’ll do next on the platform. He decided to discuss the whole situation with his viewers on September 26.
The former Overwatch League pro turned full-time streamer admitted that he knew gambling was wrong, but still decided to do it anyway.
“I don’t give a f— if people say it’s wrong. I don’t ask people to back up my dog s—,” xQc said.
When people complained, xQc said he “didn’t give a f—.” In response to previous viewer accusations, xQc simply screamed to not watch him if they don’t like what he does.
xQc added that other streamers “want it both ways.” They will do something wrong but not want to be called out for it, he said. Then they will later “backtrack” on it once the drama gets to be too hard to handle.
“I don’t do none of that s—. I knew gamba was wrong, gamba is wrong, I did gamba. People complained… I didn’t give a f—. How is that hard to understand?” xQc said.
While xQc may not care about how viewers and other streamers feel about his gambling streams, he has already made some changes after Twitch’s announcement.
With Twitch cracking down on gambling, xQc has removed his referral code, which was already against Twitch’s regulations. It’s unclear if xQc will continue gambling on a different site or if he will switch up his Twitch content come October 18.
