The review of the UK’s gambling laws may now see the first stages held back until after Christmas.
According to The Daily Mail, there has been a fifth postponement in releasing the White Paper, the consultative document outlining the proposals and making them available for interested parties to comment.
The political upheaval in the UK is the primary reason for the delays, aggravated by other global issues such as the war in Ukraine and the battle to contain rising inflation. Former minister with the responsibility for the gaming industry, Nadine Dorries is reported by the newspaper to have been critical of her successor, Michelle Donelan, for the delays.
But this week, Donelan said that the proposals needed a great deal more work.
