Locks
NBA (0.5 Unit) Minnesota Timberwolves/Atlanta Hawks Over 241 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 7:00 PM CT on Bally Sports North
Not only do we get to see two fast-paced offenses here, we get to see the return of Karl-Anthony Towns tonight. If Anthony Edwards somehow plays through his ankle injury we could see the Wolves full roster for the first time since November. And on the other side we have a Hawks team that has averaged 244.4 points per game since the firing of former coach Nate McMillan.
In addition, we saw these two teams combine for 251 points just last week so I expect that pace to pick up where they left off in a shootout with minimal defense tonight. Atlanta is on a back-to-back here with travel, making a team already not interested in defense even less likely to try on that end of the floor. Let’s hope the return of KAT boosts Minnesota’s offense, they pick up where they left off in the Knicks win, and we see plenty of points here.
NBA (0.5 Unit) Joel Embiid Over 32.5 Points (-110; Odds via Caesars): 7:00 PM CT on NBA League Pass
It’s that time of the year again, where Joel Embiid knows he needs to put the finishing touches on his MVP campaign to avoid finishing second again. In the month of March alone, Embiid has gone over this number in 8 of 10 games and is averaging over 36 PPG. We’ve seen how much Embiid dominates Nikola Vucevic in the past and after Monday’s upset loss to the Bulls, Embiid and the Sixers will be even more motivated here. That should create another high-scoring game from the odds-on favorite for this year’s MVP.
NBA (0.5 Unit) LA Lakers +1 Vs Phoenix Suns (-110; Odds via Caesars): 9 PM CT on ESPN
I feel as though the wrong team is favored here with these teams’ current situations. Since the Kevin Durant trade the Suns have been short-handed pretty much every game, and today will be no different without Durant or Deandre Ayton. The Suns are 0-5 ATS in the 5 games since they learned Durant would miss extended time. With no Ayton or Durant here, Anthony Davis should be able to have a field day inside against the thin Suns frontcourt. This Lakers team has been rejuvenated since adding much of the Wolves ‘play in champions’ team from last year, and I see that momentum carrying over to tonight in what should be a Lakers win.
