Weird laws across the US do exist, and they’ve been written for a reason. It’s because of individuals who, at some point, did something so wrong that the government decided to make it officially illegal.
When it comes to online gambling, the activity is still illegal in 20 states across the country. Some of these states allow bingo or horse racing but not playing online casinos or placing bets on sports.

You can’t place online bets in Alabama, but you can legally marry your first cousin. Alabama is one of the 19 states where it is legal, while in the rest of the US and most parts of the world, it is a bit more taboo.
Alaska
You can’t play casino games online in Alaska, but you can keep the meat of a dead wild animal in case you kill it. Namely, if you kill a moose or any other big animal in Alaska, you must try to salvage the meat so people can eat it.
California
You can’t bet online in California, but you can possess any number of live frogs for frog-jumping contests. What’s more, it is legal to own most snakes in CA, with the exception of venomous species.
Florida
You can’t gamble online in Florida, but you can pass gas in any public place in the state, as long as you don’t do it after 6 pm.

Georgia
You can’t place online bets in Georgia, but you can live on a boat for up to 30 days. According to state law, it is prohibited to live on a boat for more than a month.

You can’t gamble online in Hawaii, but you can ride in the backseat of a car without having to wear a seatbelt. Not only that, if all seats in the car are occupied, you can ride in the bed of a truck. No safety equipment is needed!
Idaho
You can’t play online casino games in Idaho, but you can legally ride a motorcycle until you’re 88.
Indiana
You can’t place online wagers in Indiana, but you can legally ride a horse that goes up to 10 MPH.
Hopefully, Indiana horses have a speedometer since “no horse shall be “driven” at speed above 10 MPH in the state due to high-speed horse races back in the day.
Kentucky
You can’t gamble online in Kentucky, but you can marry the same man twice. According to Woman’s Day, Kentucky law forbids a woman from marrying the same man more than three times.
Maine
You can’t gamble in Maine, but you can have a dog on a leash that’s up to eight feet in length.
You can also carry a shotgun at all times, including during church services.
Massachusetts
You can’t place online bets in Massachusetts, but you can get a fortune teller license. In order to apply for one, you must reside in the state for at least a year.
Minnesota
You can’t wager online in Minnesota, but you can play bingo, not once but two times a week. Can’t let things get out of hand!
Missouri
In Missouri, you can’t place online bets, but you can get a permit to shave while driving.
North Dakota
You can’t gamble online in North Dakota, but with valid and adequate permission, you can exterminate pigeon(s).
The law says, “no person, firm or corporation shall exterminate pigeons or other harmful wild birds without first having obtained a permit from the Fargo health department.”
And you can shoot fireworks as long as it’s not after 11 p.m.
New Mexico
You can’t play online casino games in New Mexico, but you can legally go hunting, as long as it’s not on cemetery premises.
Oklahoma
You can’t legally place online bets in Oklahoma, but you are allowed to spit in the grass if you have an overwhelming desire to do so.
South Carolina
You can’t gamble online in South Carolina, but you can sell lightbulbs any day you like, including Sundays.
Texas
You can’t gamble online in Texas, but you can send someone to get married for you. If you have a legitimate reason for absence – like military service – you can send someone to get married on your behalf, as long as you have all the right documentation.
Utah
You can’t gamble online in Utah, but in the city of Logan, you can throw rocks at cars. That is if you get the owner’s permission.
Vermont
You can’t place online bets in Vermont, but you can wear fake teeth with your husband’s approval.
