SLED bust in Myrtle Beach area leads to arrest of 13 on gambling charges

MYRTLE BEACH — A bust at an illegal gambling house has led to the arrest of more than a dozen people in the Myrtle Beach area, according to a Feb. 6 news release from the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Justin Brown, 36, and Nicholas Marsico, 45, were arrested and charged Jan. 11 with gambling after they ran an illegal gambling facility specifically for poker games inside a Viejas Drive residence, according to their arrest warrants.

During that bust, Matthew Gough, 37, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, police said. Gough, Brown and Marsico were booked at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Eleven individuals were also charged with misdemeanors for gambling at the illegal site, including Gough, Elizar Marcus (44 years old), Mark Carter (69), Davil Throckmorton (69), Patrick Ellis (46), Donald Emery (54), Yeghishe Ghazaryan (40) Tracey Miller (60), Thien Vo (47), Christopher Ployer (36) and Joshua Grodnitzky (35), according to the SLED release.

Their court dates are set for March, according to their arrest citations.

The case will be prosecuted by the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Horry County Police and the Horry County Sheriff’s Office assisted SLED in the case.
