MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) — Security forces raided a gambling site and arrested seven people in north Afghanistan’s Balkh province on Sunday, said a statement of the provincial police headquarters on Monday.

A total of seven gamblers who gathered in Police District 6 of Mazar-i-Sharif city, the capital of Balkh province, on Sunday night were identified and arrested, the statement added.

In a similar operation last week, the security forces raided a gambling site in Samangan province and arrested 12 people.

Gambling is banned in Afghanistan by the caretaker government. Enditem
