KOTA TINGGI: Five premises in town have had their electricity supply cut off for running illegal gambling activities.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said police raided the premises at 10am on Wednesday (Sept 21).

“The cuts were made with the help of Tenaga Nasional Berhad under Section 21A of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

“The (culprits) used other businesses as a front for their illegal activities, such as mobile phone stores, sundry shops, minimarkets and coffee shops,” he said in a statement.

Supt Hussin said police also welcomed any public tip-offs on illegal gambling activities.
