A multi-agency team in Machakos has destroyed 46 gambling machines and also confiscated 62 cartons of illicit brews.
Led by Machakos County Police commander Patrick Lobolia and Assistant county Commissioner Judy Wanjiru Njoroge, they said a raid was conducted within Machakos town Tuesday night where the owner of the gambling machines and 17 people who were caught drinking illicit brews were arrested.
Lobolia has called on residents to be vigilant on fake/counterfeit alcohol in the town.
Addressing the press during the burning of the 46 gambling machines, he cautioned the public on such drinks as they were contaminated with ethanol and methanol that are harmful to human health.
The team has vowed to crack the whip on illicit brew in the entire county.
Already, KRA team has come up with an app dubbed “soma label” that one can scan the codes at the bottles to ascertain and know whether it’s counterfeit or original including all products in the market.
