Police Book 42 After Raids At Gambling Dens | Nashik News - Times of India

Nashik: Two gambling dens were raided by the city police on Monday following which 42 people were booked.
The police teams also seized around Rs 1.3 lakh from both the locations. The crime branch unit 1 of the city police on Monday got information that a person was letting people play cards at his shop located in a commercial complex near the Peth Phata signal in Panchavati.
Senior police inspector Vijay Dhamal immediately formed a team and raided the shop. A total of 37 people were found gambling at the establishment. The team also seized cash and other valuables worth Rs 1.28 lakh from the spot.
“All the 37 people were were booked under sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act,” a police officer said.
The second raid was conducted by Nashik Road police at vacant house in Gosavi Wadi on Monday. Here as many as five people were found playing cards. They too were booked by the police and Rs 3,850 was recovered from them. The police have appealed to the people to inform them about any illegal business being operated in their area.

The Bidhannagar police in Kolkata seized Rs 1.3 lakh from two operators of an illegal gambling den in Baguiati. Acting on a tip, the police raided a house and apprehended two individuals while others managed to escape. The police also confiscated 30 satta pads along with the cash. Similar incidents of gambling raids have also taken place in Nashik, Indore, Rishikesh, Malegaon, and Jalna. Investigations are ongoing in all cases.
Tvm Club raided, 9 held for gambling
Nine individuals were arrested for gambling at a cottage in Trivandrum Club, Vazhuthacaud. The group had come from various places for the illegal activity. The police seized a sum of Rs 5,60,000 and playing cards from them. The managing director of a state-owned PSU, S R Vinayakumar, is considered the first accused in the case. Industry Minister P Rajeeve stated that a decision on action against Vinayakumar will be made after a departmental inquiry. The arrested individuals have been remanded under the Kerala Gaming Act.
