Paphos police on Sunday proceeded to confiscate ten computers used for illegal electronic gambling.

According to Paphos assistant police chief Michalis Nikolaou, officers undertook a targeted crackdown on an electronic gambling venue run by a 32-year-old permanent resident.

During the intervention, police identified and seized the ten computer towers, after establishing reasonable suspicion of their use for gambling, Nikolaou told CNA.

Under the Gambling Act, it is illegal to conduct or organise games of chance without a licence.

Both the property manager and the 60-year-old owner were called to the Paphos police station to be questioned and examination of scientific evidence is underway.
