A year into the legalization of single-game sports betting in Ontario, a recent report shows an uptick for online gambling. First quarter online wagers rose to $14 billion compared to the previous one, according to iGaming Ontario. There were 920,000 active players spending an average of $197 per account. Online casinos represented 83% of the total wagers, bringing in $392 in revenue. A need to capture revenue leaving the province was among the reasons for single-game betting legalization, according to iGaming Ontario, adding that high paying jobs have come as a result.
