Online gambling operator bet365 will face the scrutiny of Australia’s financial crimes watchdog as it launches an investigation into the foreign company’s compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism rules.
The move by Austrac on Thursday followed the appointment of an external auditor to the British bookmaking outfit in late 2022 as part of a sector-wide crackdown on potential breaches. The same campaign against corporate gaming operators also examined the compliance of Sportsbet.
