Ohio’s casinos and racinos take in $203 million of gambling revenue in July

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ohio’s casinos and racinos had $203.5 million of gambling revenue in July, down about 2% when compared to the same month last year.

The state’s 11 casinos and racinos took in a combined $206.7 million last July, according to data from the Ohio Casino Control and Lottery commissions. This is the money kept by the gambling houses, after paying out winnings, but before state taxes and fees.

Through seven months, Ohio’s gambling establishments are ahead year-over-year. So far in 2023, the casinos and racinos have had $1.41 billion in gambling revenue, up from $1.38 billion over the same period last year. These figures exclude newly legalized sports betting.

The four casinos, which can offer slot machines and table games like blackjack, took in $86 million of gambling revenue in July, down from $88.7 million last year. The state’s seven racinos, the gambling houses at horse racetracks that can only offer slot machines, took in $117.5 million, down from $118 million.
