In the opinion of members of the ministry, the approval of Bill 2,234/2022 could bring investments to the country, boosting the tourism sector.
The project has been in progress in the National Congress for more than 30 years. It was approved by the Chamber in 2022 and, on the 19th, by the CCJ (Senate Constitution and Justice Committee). Now, it must be taken to the Plenary.
Celso Sabino met in recent weeks with senator Davi Alcolumbre, who presides over the CCJ and exerts influence on parliamentarians. He also spoke to senators from parties such as PSD, MDB and PDT.
The minister has had conversations with both parliamentarians and government members to reinforce support for the release of games in Brazil. He sees the initiative not only attracting tourists to the country, but also large sums in hotel and infrastructure investments. Celso Sabino has a strong supporter, vice-president Geraldo Alckmin, who also holds the position of Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services.
Recently Sabino revealed that one of those interested in investing in Brazil is Hard Rock International. He even stated that Jim Allen, CEO of the group, “is just waiting for this project to be approved to decide where to build something here.”
Celso Sabino says that, if Congress releases the casinos, Jim Allen wants to install other units in Brazil managed by the headquarters itself. “The project of resorts integrated with casinos, without a doubt, will provide even greater interest among large chains,” he stated.
