A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into alleged ‘illegal gambling’ in the Potteries. The Gambling Commission teamed up with Staffordshire Police for this morning’s sting.
The commission, a Government body, has confirmed a 39-year-old man was arrested today in the ‘Longton area’ of the city.
A spokesman said: “A man was today arrested on suspicion of providing unlicensed gambling. The 39-year-old was arrested in Stoke-on-Trent as part of an investigation led by the Gambling Commission and supported by Staffordshire Police.”
The commission says the suspect is alleged to have committed offences under section 33 and 330 of the Gambling Act 2005 which relate to the ‘provision of facilities for gambling’. Officials say they will not be providing any further details on this morning’s sting.
