Heated discussion over Online gambling & fraud; CM says investigation will be done

On Wednesday, there was a heated discussion in the house over the
isssue of online gambling and online fraud cases that are reported in Goa.
However Chief Minister said that he will set up an inquiry and book those
involved in this. He also added that strict enforcement will be put in place
against such illegal and online gambling activities.

It was LoP Yuri Alemao who raised the issue of online gambling
going on at different places across the state especially South Goa. He also highlighted
that many of the Goan youth are involved in this and have ruined their future
and life.

CM Pramod Sawant is considering adopting Tamil Nadu Government’s
rules and regulations for cracking down on online gambling. He believes that
this could be an effective way to address the problem in Goa, CM Sawant is
willing to study the issue further and has promised to take strict action
against those who violate the law. Additionally, it appears that he has
committed to removing all online gaming hoardings and advertisements.
