Nagpur: A man was fatally stabbed, and his friend was seriously injured in an attack late Sunday night in Beltarodi, Nagpur. The incident occurred due to a dispute over outstanding gambling debts.
The deceased has been identified as Dilip Sahu. His friend, Piyush, also suffered injuries during the attack. The police have named the suspects as Dalavi, also known as Akash Lilhare, who operates a gambling den, and his accomplice Chhotu Lilhare. Both suspects are currently at large.
According to police sources, there had been ongoing tensions between Lilhare and Sahu regarding unpaid gambling debts, leading to multiple arguments in the past.
The latest confrontation took place in Kaikare Nagar on Sunday night. During the altercation, Lilhare allegedly stabbed Sahu. Piyush tried to intervene and save Sahu but was injured in the process.
Both victims were taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced Sahu dead. Piyush remains under medical observation.
A case has been registered against the suspects under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and a manhunt has been initiated to apprehend them.
