MUMBAI: In an early morning raid, the Mumbai crime branch arrested 45 individuals, including 12 women, for their alleged involvement in gambling at a 4-BHK flat in Khar.
Acting on information, a police team led by inspector Daya Nayak raided the flat, located on the fifth floor of a residential building, and discovered a bustling gambling den.
The flat, reportedly used exclusively for gambling activities, accommodated 38 customers engaged in poker and teen-patti.Three jockeys were aiding the customers in their gambling activities. Additionally, four partners involved in the gambling business were also taken into custody. The residents of the building had reportedly been facing issues due to the influx of people for gambling.
During the raid, police confiscated cash amounting to Rs 34 lakh and plastic coins exceeding Rs 1 crore, which were being used as currency for gambling. The customers were provided with plastic coins of different colors for use during the gambling sessions. A case has been registered against the accused at the Khar police station. Although those arrested were later released on bail, the owner of the flat remains a wanted accused in the case.
