
Ahmedabad: A gambling den in Dudheshwar where gamblers were allowed to bet online or offline was busted by the Cybercrime police on Saturday.
According to police, the accused used a mobile application named Genesis to give their clients IDs for gambling. They used to go live from their house where a person can gamble with physical cards too.
According to an FIR filed with the Cybercrime police, cops got a tip-off about a gambling den in the Jupiter Mill chawl in Dudheshwar.
Police constable Ashok Lakshmanlal said in the FIR that a team led by sub-inspector Bharat Solanki raided a house in the chawl and nabbed eight persons from the spot.
The accused were identified as Usmangani Ladhani, 54; his son Samsuddin Ladhani, 31; and their relative Imamuddin Ladhani, 20 — all residents of the house which was raided on Saturday. The others were identified as Pravin Chauhan, 26 a resident of Madhavpura; Moin Shaikh, 44, a resident of Shahpur Adda; Samir Ansari, 43, a resident of Bapunagar; Vipul Chauhan, 31, a resident of Madhavpura; and Ravi Chauhan, 24, a resident of Dudheshwar.
The cops seized 12 cellphones along with other articles worth Rs 26,000 from the spot and registered a complaint under the gambling prevention act against the eight accused and began an investigation.
