French, Belgian regulators sign safer gambling agreement

The gambling regulators of France and Belgium have signed an agreement that will see them collaborate on a range of safer gambling initiatives.

Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, chairwoman of France’s Autorité Nationale des Jeux, and Magali Clavie, chairwoman of the Belgian Gaming Commission, made the pact at the recent Gambling Regulators’ European Forum in Norway.

The two authorities want to “intensify their cooperation on a strategic level,” the Belgian regulator said, adding the bodies want to “optimise player protection and a safer gambling environment in their respective countries.”

The two regulators will be able to share information, undertake joint investigations and co-author reports on their work in the industry.

The agreement will look at licensing procedures and monitoring, the regulation of advertising and the prevention of problem gambling, as well as tackling fraud, money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

Elsewhere at the GREF summit between June 5-7, Falque-Pierrotin was made a chairwoman of the body’s new board, with Clavie also appointed a member of the board.
