Amid the NFL’s gambling probe, another suspension could be coming the Lions’ way.

After the team had four players busted last month for violating the NFL’s gambling policy, including last year’s 12th overall pick Jameson Williams, a fifth is under investigation for the same potential infraction, according to The Athletic.

The identity of the player is not yet known, but he was reportedly “not a prominent member” of Detroit’s 2022 team. His interview with the NFL’s investigator is forthcoming.

In addition to Williams, the Lions had safety C.J. Moore and receivers Quintez Cephus and Stanley Berryhill popped and suspended six games for gambling. The club subsequently released the latter three.

Speaking to reporters Thursday for the first time since his suspension was announced, Williams said he “wasn’t aware of (the rule) that caught me” nor does he know when or where his violation took place.

The NFL prohibits its players and employees from betting on sports in NFL facilities and from betting on the NFL in any fashion at all.
