Well-known Dutch gambling lawyers Justin Franssen and Frank Tolboom have linked up with legal expert Alan Littler to launch a new boutique law firm focused on technology, innovation and regulation in the gambling sector.
Located in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam, Franssen Tolboom officially commenced work on 1 January. As well as gambling, it will also serve the gaming, fintech and payments, sports, media and entertainment sectors.
Franssen, Tolboom and Littler have worked together for several years. This included a spell on the gaming, sports and entertainment team at VMW Taxand. Established by Franssen, the firm was previously known as Van Mens & Wisselink.
For the past 12 years, the trio were with Kalff Katz & Franssen, where Franssen was also a partner. The team associated with the founders has fully transitioned to Franssen Tolboom.
Experienced legal team to support Franssen Tolboom
To further support the launch, Franssen Tolboom has onboarded four experienced counsels. This, the founders say, expands the firm’s capabilities across litigation, sports law, corporate and M&A.
“I can feel the energy this new setting brings to the entire team,” Franssen said. “It has been enthusiastically received by our clients. Together with our close-knit team and the addition of four experienced counsels, we’re taking an exciting step forward, deepening and broadening our capabilities.”
Tolboom added: “We are thrilled to take this new step, shaping the further growth of our firm. Our clients operate in a dynamic and rapidly changing landscape.
“With the expansion of expertise and legal areas, we are better equipped to meet our clients’ ever-evolving needs.”
