CORONATION Street’s Ed Bailey has destroyed his family’s Christmas with a sick stunt after his gambling addiction spiralled out of control.
The builder – who is played by actor Trevor Michael Georges in the ITV soap – has secretly lost everything after gambling it all away.
Hiding it all from his family, Ed has been barely able to afford the basics but tonight that all changed.
He had been desperate to slip away from his problems and so he packed a bag ready to flee to Birmingham where wife Aggie has been.
But as he planned to leave he came face to face with Tony who has been demanding the cash Ed owes him.
Finally snapping Tony attacked Ed to stop him from calling for help, punching him to the floor.

To save himself and to keep his secret hidden, Ed made a shocking choice and handed over the family’s Christmas presents to Tony.
He even helped him load them into his van so he could sell them and finally get paid for the work he did for Ed.
But when the rest of the family arrived home they found Ed with a bloodied face and all of the presents gone.
Dee-Dee called the police and Craig rushed around to take a statement – that didn’t quite make sense – but the family brushed it aside.

Later Ed became emotional as the family accepted the situation without complaint, his guilt getting on top of him.
But fans were just disgusted in him.
One wrote: “Gambling is just disgusting!”
A second said: “Why would he do that?”
Another added: “Can’t deal with Ed anymore, wish he would sort his life out.”
