Cops raid casino over illegal gambling; arrest 11; seize articles worth Rs 33 lakh

PANJIM: The Crime Branch of Goa Police arrested 11 persons for allegedly operating an illegal live cards game following a raid at a casino at Bambolim and also seized articles worth Rs 33 lakh.

Police stated that eight gambling customers, two dealers of the tables and one shift manager, were caught-red handed.

During the search, two tables of live card gambling, 14 tabs, two sets of 52 playing cards, two live card shufflers, two card scanners, two cash chip floats containing different amounts of chips worth over Rs 28 lakh and other gambling articles, all worth Rs 33 lakh were seized.

An offence under sections 3 and 4 of The Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling (GDDPG) Act 1976 has been registered and the case is being investigated by PI Kishor Ramanan under supervision of DySP Crime Suraj Halarnkar and SP Crime Rahul Gupta, IPS.
