Budget makes no mention of gambling

No news is good news as far as the Budget last week in the UK was concerned.

The Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, left any unpleasantness for the games and gaming industry out of his pre-election review of the national finances.

But there may yet be a sting in the tail for all of this is no more than a prologue to the white paper on gambling’s outcome, which many now reckon will come next month.

It is not expected, however, that the government’s conclusions from the white paper consultations will be negative. Cashless is expected to be featured in that and how many of each category of machines will be permitted in AGCs.
