BetDEX Labs, a blockchain-enabled betting exchange founded by former executives of FanDuel, will start operating in Ireland from tomorrow after being issued with a remote betting licence.
The company was set up by Nigel Eccles, a Tyrone man and founder of FanDuel — a US daily fantasy sports and betting site — alongside his former FanDuel colleagues Varun Sudhakar and Stuart Tonner.
The two-year licence, effective from July 1, allows BetDEX Exchange to offer all forms of online sports betting in Ireland, and will allow it to establish a presence in the European Union. The business applied for the licence, which cost €10,000, in April. The company has been issued with just one other licence, in the Isle of Man in October last year.
