Hungary’s authorities in cooperation with banks are starting to block bank transactions related to illegal gambling websites.
From July, related deposits and withdrawals will be restricted and Hungarian banks will reject card payments to illegal gambling sites, the Supervisory Authority for Regulated Activities (SZTFH) said in a statement on Thursday.
Once the restrictions come into effect, the payment of prizes won on unlicensed sites will also “become uncertain”.
SZTFH recommended gamblers visit its website to check whether an operator has a license or not.
