The readers’ branch team of the Superintendent of Police of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Rural Police arrested 14 gamblers red-handed while gambling at Shardulwadi in Khuldabad on Wednesday night. The gamblers are reputed citizens, and gambling and other articles, amounting to Rs 14 lakh, have been seized from them. The seized articles included one car, eight motorcycles, and other items.

The readers’ branch team of the SP Dr. Vinaykumar Rathod’s office had received information about the gambling den at Shardulwadi in Bhosale Chowk, within the jurisdiction of the Khuldabad police station. The team members went to the spot in private vehicles and conducted a raid on the gambling den.

The den was being operated in a tin shed on a farm. The owner, Amjad Pathan, was conducting a gambling game named Tirrat, and the gamblers were betting money. The police arrested 14 persons and seized Rs 24,360 in cash, 14 mobile phones, eight motorcycles, and a car, all amounting to Rs 14.06 lakh. The action was executed by API Sudhir Mote, Javed Shaikh, Sandeep Avhale, Vinod Jonwal, Kalyan Khedkar, and others.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Amjad Pathan, Pralhad Dhivre, Sajan Jangale, Kachru Sulane, Deepak Chavan, Alim Shaikh, Arjun Salve, Shaikh Kadar, Bhagwan Bodkhe, Ankush Gaikwad, Riyaz Shaikh, Madan Ghunawat, Ayaz Latif Khan, and Tanvir Shaikh.
