Assassin’s Creed Mirage Reportedly Picks Up Adults Only Rating For ‘Real Gambling’

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has reportedly been rated Adults Only by the ESRB due to it featuring ‘real gambling,’ which the board classifies as “betting or wagering real cash or currency.”

The rating was first spotted on the Xbox Store and then ResetEra users also picked it up during the Ubisoft Forward livestream over the weekend. Naturally, real gambling differs from the traditional simulated gambling that you find in video games, which is gambling “without bettering or wagering real cash or currency.”

Ubisoft hasn’t actually confirmed anything about the way Assassin’s Creed Mirage handles its depiction of gambling yet, although if the rating is accurate and it’s not a mistake, then it appears the game allows you to gamble with real cash.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is pencilled in for a Spring 2023 launch on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. The game takes place in Baghdad and sees players controlling Basim, who previously appeared in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Ubisoft revealed during an interview with IGN that not all future Assassin’s Creed games will be 150-hour RPGs, and that the series’ modern-day story will now be told via Assassin’s Creed Infinity.
