ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) – Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office took part in a multiple-agency operation raid of businesses accused of conducting illegal gambling.

Sgt. Chris Carroll with Criminal Investigations said the sheriff’s office was joined by the Texas Comptroller’s Office and Lufkin police in a joint effort that began around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Carroll said five businesses had been monitored for about two months following tips on Crime Stoppers and other avenues. Officers raided the businesses simultaneously, he said.

In addition to six arrests, several citations were also issued.

Following were the arrested:

Ashalatha Abburi, of Livingston

Nishanth Bandlavenu, of Livingston

Melissa D Emmons, of Lufkin

Joyce Marie Frost, of Lufkin

Royce Edward Robinson, of Lufkin

Cory Lee Wood, of Lufkin
