The Alabama state Legislature is set to vote on the US state’s new gambling regulation proposal on Thursday after it progressed through a legislative committee.
As reported by the Associated Press, Alabama House Economic Development and Tourism Committee advanced the package, which would allow as many as 10 casino sites.
The legislation would set up a new Alabama Gaming Commission which would oversee the issuing of licences.
The regulations would also cover sports wagering and statewide lottery.
The Associated Press added that if approved in the House of Representatives, the bill would be put to Alabama voters in the November general election.
