As the NFL continues to investigate a second wave of potential violations to its gambling policy, the league has reportedly recruited the biggest name in the history of the sport to send an important message to players.
According to 9News’ Mike Klis, Tom Brady has recently taped a powerful introduction to the league’s gambling education video.
It will be required to be shown by every team during rookie minicamp and training camp, Klis says.
In the video, per Klis, Brady speaks about his love for football and how playing in the NFL should be considered a privilege.
“In his video message, Brady… talks about his love of football and how the opportunity to play in the NFL was a privilege of a lifetime,” Klis says. “He then says betting on NFL games hurts the integrity of the league and the reputation of everyone on your team and it’s just not worth it.”
Back in April, Lions wideout Jameson Williams and several other players were first to be suspended by the league for various gambling-related activities. Then, just this week, Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. was reported to be under investigation by the league for ‘pervasive‘ sports wagering activities.
We hope Brady’s message gets through.
