Indianapolis Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers is the latest player to violate the NFL’s gambling policy and the NFL is likely to find more violations as the days and months pass.

David Highhill, a vice president and general manager who oversees sports betting for the NFL, recently told ESPN “… We are very explicit in the training to explain that if you are involved with the NFL, you can never bet on the NFL. There should be no misunderstanding on the policies”. So, NFL employees should be well-versed in the dos and don’ts, per Highhill.

Either way, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles is making sure his players and staff know exactly how to avoid this particular brand of trouble with the NFL.

“We have gambling policy rules that we go every year,” Bowles told reporters Tuesday. “Probably once in the spring and once everybody gets here… Next week at mandatory mini camp, we’ll sit down and have that meeting and we’ll discuss it. They’ll know exactly what they can and can’t do.”

The Buccaneers are entering a pivotal year under Bowles in which they don’t have a ton of star power or depth. In other words: They need all hands on deck when it comes to making sure they maximize success in 2023 and losing players to gambling violations is a sure-fire way to make sure 2023 is as miserable as possible.
