The competent authorities of the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Rayyan and North Security Departments, have busted a gambling racket that was being run in a house. The individual who was operating the centre apprehended, a tweet by the MoI said Saturday.
Following the necessary authorisation from the Public Prosecution, a search was conducted, resulting in the suspects being caught in the act, MoI said. The group consisted of 19 individuals from Arab, European, and Asian nations. They were found in possession of QR174,508, $10,200 and various other currencies.
In addition to seizing the gambling paraphernalia, a quantity of alcoholic beverages was also confiscated. The detained individuals, along with the seized items, are being handed over to the Public Prosecution.
