Morrison accuses Albanese of ‘gambling with the constitution’ as Voice debate heats up

Former prime minister Scott Morrison has accused Anthony Albanese of “gambling with the constitution” as the Indigenous Voice debate heats up.

Mr Morrison used his 15-minute contribution on the floor of parliament to outline his own government’s attempts to try and close the gap of Indigenous disadvantage.

Largely, it was a critique of the Indigenous Voice to Parliament proposal put forward by the Labor government.

Mr Morrison argued that it was “ill-defined” at the moment and is therefore open and up to the High Court to decipher.

The former prime minister suggested that the best approach would be to legislate the Voice rather than enshrining it into the constitution.
