The Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney has been given an immediate eight-month ban from football and fined £50,000 by the FA for 232 breaches of the betting rules.
Toney, 27, has been banned from representing either club or country up to and including January 16 next year after being charged following Tuesday’s appearance in front of a disciplinary panel.
He was also warned about his future conduct after admitting to 232 of the 262 breaches he was originally charged with in December. The FA subsequently withdrew 30 charges.
He will begin his ban by missing Brentford’s final two games of the Premier League season — against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and Manchester City — as Thomas Frank’s side aim to secure a place in
