The Madras High Court has agreed to hear a group of cases filed by online gaming companies on April 27, challenging the validity of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Act, 2022. The act was granted assent by Governor R.N. Ravi on April 10 this year. The online gaming companies have requested an early hearing before the start of the summer vacation on May 1. Senior Counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi made the request on behalf of the petitioners, who are also seeking a stay on the operation of the law.
