MANILA, Philippines — Eight persons were arrested for alleged illegal gambling in Makati and for carrying P1.1 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, according to the Southern Police District.

Jake dela Vega, Ryan Sularte, Roderick Gayacao, Kaitlyn Gabaya, Amador Romasanta, Mary Grace Roldan, Rose Ann Lopez and Joy Espayos were caught by police playing the coin game cara y cruz in Barangay Guadalupe Viejo before dawn Monday.

Police also confiscated 15 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 164.93 grams valued at P1,121,524.

They face charges of illegal gambling and possessing illegal drugs.
