Nebraska lawmakers are pumping the brakes on casino development in the state.
While voters approved casino gambling at the state’s horse racing tracks in a 2020 referendum, lawmakers have approved a measure that would block any additional casinos for at least three years.
The bill passed 38-to-3 and is awaiting Governor Pete Ricketts’ signature.
It would require the state’s racing and gaming commission to study the gambling market in Nebraska and require any future developments to be at least 50-miles away from an existing facility.
