The anonymous 26-year-old man, once a Grab delivery rider, shared that he started his career in 2019 during the pandemic, full of hope and ambition.
As the primary provider for his small family, he worked tirelessly, earning around P1,500 daily, a decent income that allowed him to buy a brand-new motorcycle and provide well for his family.
However, his life took a dark turn in 2022 when a customer paid him through GCash. While browsing the app, he stumbled upon an online game, “Color Game,” and decided to try his luck with just P5.
When his P5 quickly turned into P850, he was intrigued. Soon, he was winning even more enough to tempt him into betting daily. At first, it seemed like easy money, but soon the losses piled up, and he found himself in deep financial trouble.
Before he knew it, he had accumulated around P260,000 in debt. He sold his beloved motorcycle, and, with his livelihood now gone, he fell further into financial and emotional strain.
The once-respected family breadwinner now felt like a burden, consumed by guilt and disappointment. He had let down those who believed in him, and his world became increasingly small, isolated, and filled with regret.
Now, as he searches for a fresh start and applies for new jobs, he warns others to avoid gambling. His focus has shifted from money to reclaiming his peace of mind, hoping to recover from the consequences of his choices.
