LANSDALE, PA — Police say two masked men, one of them armed with a sledgehammer, stole cash from inside a Lansdale convenience store early Saturday.
Towamencin officers are investigating a similar robbery at the 7-Eleven on Allentown Road Tuesday morning, Chief Tim Troxel confirmed to Patch. There were no injuries reported in either case.
Lansdale officers responded to the 600 block of West Main Street at 3:40 a.m. Saturday for a hold-up alarm. Police told North Penn Now it was the 7-Eleven.
A store employee told police that two men wearing face masks came into the store. One of the men had a sledgehammer, and used it to break into the electronic gambling machines and steal the cash from inside.
Both men fled the scene, police said.
Lansdale Police ask anyone with information about the crime to contact Detective Joseph Gary at (267) 642-9422 or email [email protected]. Information provided to the Crime Tips e-mail address is confidential.
On Tuesday morning before 5 a.m., an employee at the 7-Eleven on Allentown Road was in the back of the store when he heard a commotion. Troxel said the employee rushed to the front of the store to see two figures run out the door.
“They did a smash and grab of the game of chance machines and grabbed the cash boxes,” Troxel said.
Troxel told Patch detectives are still gathering information and images from store cameras. He said he isn’t sure if the crimes are connected at this point in the investigation.
Anyone with information or surveillance images near this store is asked to contact Towamencin Township Police at (215) 368-7606.
