Denmark’s Authorities Join Forces to Combat Illegal Gambling Marketing – ISA-GUIDE

The Danish Consumer Ombudsman, the Gambling Advertising Board, and the Danish Gambling Authority have formed a new agreement to streamline efforts and prevent duplication of work in addressing illegal gambling marketing in Denmark. The collaboration aims to ensure that gambling companies comply with marketing regulations and consumer protection laws.

The three bodies will work together to forward cases, share information, and hold regular meetings to ensure ongoing coordination. The Danish Gambling Authority will also improve operational knowledge and experience sharing among organizations subject to anti-money laundering (AML) laws through training sessions. Additionally, the authority will introduce new licensing rights for game suppliers in 2025.

The agreement is expected to enhance the regulatory framework and enforcement actions against illegal gambling marketing. According to Torben Jense, Consumer Ombudsman, “Our new cooperation agreement strengthens our supervision of gambling companies’ marketing, ensuring better internal communication, coordination, and preventing duplication of work, which benefits consumers.”

As Denmark takes a significant step towards combating illegal gambling marketing, the question remains: Can other countries learn from their example and implement similar measures to protect their citizens from harmful gambling practices?
