THE Commonwealth Casino Commission will recommend stricter rules on internet gambling as proposed by a pending House bill.

During a regular meeting on Thursday, CCC Chairman Edward C. Deleon Guerrero shared his thoughts about the recent ban of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation or POGO due to allegations of human trafficking committed mostly by Chinese operators.

Deleon Guerrero said the internet gambling proposed by House Bill 23-90 is similar to POGO.

He said CCC will recommend an amendment that will add more restrictions in the issuance of internet gambling licenses in the CNMI.

Authored by Rep. Ralph N. Yumul, H.B. 23-90 would allow internet gambling in the CNMI and require that all electronic table games must comply with the latest international standards set by Global Gaming Laboratories International LLC or SIQ Gaming Laboratories to ensure they are honest, secure, reliable and auditable.

Deleon Guerrero, on behalf of the CCC, earlier expressed support for internet gambling, along with the issuance of three casino licenses, in light of the ongoing lawsuits filed against Imperial Pacific International.

Deleon Guerrero said that, in light of the POGO controversy in the Philippines, the CNMI Legislature, if it will act on the internet gambling bill, should ensure that it will comply with international technical standards.
