Ukrainian gambling industry almost triples payment of taxes in H1 2024
MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax) – Ukraine’s gambling industry paid 8.4-billion-hryvni taxes to the budget in January-June 2024, which is almost three times more than in the respective period of 2023, head of the Ukrainian Parliament Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Daniil Getmantsev said.
“The revenue tax grew 7.3 times year-on-year, alongside a 26.1% rise of the personal income tax (by the way, the gap suggests that more work should be done on the tax on winnings),” Ukrainian media cited Getmantsev’s statement on a social network.
The industry paid 1.9 more taxes in June 2023 than it did a year ago, he said.
Committee first deputy head Yaroslav Zheleznyak said earlier that the Ukrainian gambling industry paid 2.94-billion-hryvni taxes in January-June 2023, which was 14 times more than in the respective period of 2022. According to Zheleznyak, only 1.056-billion hryvni were paid by the gambling sector to the budget as taxes in 2022, although at least 12 billion were expected before the market legalization.
