It is time for a new and fun journey of sorts. Here at Gambling.com, we figured it was time to develop our staff picks. The amount of debate during meetings naturally spills over to trash-talking and, yes, bets.
While we begin with college football, the NFL starts next week, and there will also be staff picks for that. As the NBA and NHL seasons become prominent, the column will go on as they say.
Let us take a quick look at some of these games. All picks are against the spread.
Notre Dame at Ohio State (-17)
Ohio Stadium, 6:30 p.m. ET, ABC
The hype has been primarily one-sided toward Ohio State and whether it can cover. The fact that Notre Dame was even ranked No. 5 in pre-season pools irked ESPN personality Paul Finebaum as he called it a joke. It is less of a question that Ohio State wins at home.
Even at more than a two-touchdown favorite at BetMGM Sportsbook, it is expected the Buckeyes can get the job done.
Oregon at Georgia (-17)
Sanford Stadium, 2:30 p.m. ET, ABC
Georgia starts the defense of its national title against a scrappy Oregon Ducks team on Saturday and are more than a two-touchdown favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Do note Dan Lanning, formerly Georgia’s defensive coordinator is now Oregon’s coach. That makes things a little spicy.
Georgia still has enough offensive weapons to combat an Oregon squad that can pressure the football on both sides. Expect a fun game at least until the fourth quarter.
Florida State vs. LSU (-3.5)
Caesars Superdome, Sunday, 7:30 p.m. ET, ABC
Florida State had what amounted to a practice game last week as they go up against LSU from New Orleans on Sunday. The key is how well LSU bounces back from 6-7 and 5-5 seasons the past two years. With Brian Kelly as coach, that is expected to change.
Florida State has endured four straight losing seasons, and a win this weekend would be gigantic heading into the ACC schedule. This will be competitive, as FanDuel Sportsbook pricing shows.
Cincinnati at Arkansas (-6.5)
Razorback Stadium, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
This might be one of the more underrated games of the week. Cincinnati went 14-1 last season and lost to Alabama in a closer-than-expected playoff semifinal.
Arkansas with KJ Jefferson could be one of those teams that wins 10 games in the SEC this year. Both teams have plenty of talent hence why they are in the Top 25. Arkansas is almost a touchdown favorite at home on PointsBet Sportsbook.
It is a game to watch on Saturday. Sit back and enjoy. Below are our picks.
