5 men arrested for shabu, gambling, illegal firearms in Taguig

Five men, including a tricycle driver, were arrested for suspected shabu, gambling and illegal possession of a firearm in Taguig on June 17. 

The Taguig Police arrested the suspects during a foot patrol in Barangay Pembo at about 5:30 p.m. 

The police identified the suspects as alias Israel, 26, tricycle driver; alias Aniceto, 38, alias Prince 27, construction worker; alias Joey, 34; and alias Jayson, 41, kitchen crew.

According to the police, the five were engaged in illegal gambling (cara y cruz). Upon frisking and searching, they seized a .38-caliber revolver loaded with six live rounds. 

They also confiscated two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing 2.6 grams valued at P17,680, and betting money allegedly used for the illegal gambling activity. 

The seized items will be turned over to the Southern Police District Forensic Unit for laboratory examination. 

The suspects will face complaints before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office for  violation of Republic 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Presidential Decree 1602 (illegal gambling), and Republic Act 10591 (illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition).
