Gambling business paid UAH 7.38B in taxes and fees in Jan-May 2024

In January-May 2024, gambling organizers in Ukraine transferred UAH 7.38 billion in taxes and fees to the state budget.

This was announced MP and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Finance Yaroslav Zheleznyak on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“As for tax revenues from the gambling business… In the first five months of the year, the budget received UAH 7.38 billion,” he posted.

The MP noted that revenues increased threefold compared to the same period in 2023, 38 times compared to 2022, and 101 times more funds were received by the budget in 2021.

Zheleznyak emphasized that the increase in deductions occurred even “despite the fact that some operators were deprived of their licenses and that a significant part of economy remains in shadow”.

As reported, on April 24, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a basis the revised draft law, No.9256-d, which aims to tighten control over the activities of gambling and lottery organizers.
