JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) have revoked 24 premises licences this year for running online gambling activities.

Mayor Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman said the action was taken under the Licensing Trade, Business and Industrial 2016 By-Laws with the help of the state police.

“Based on the police report, as of October this year, we have 36 premises that have been reported running this illegal activity.

“From the 36 premises, 24 premises have had their licences cancelled,” he said during a speech at the full council meeting at Menara MBJB, Bukit Senyum, here, on Wednesday (Nov 2).

The remaining 12 premises do not have any licence to operate and would be given a compound by the council, he added.

Meanwhile, on another matter, Mohd Noorazam had also urged premises owners in the city to come forward and renew their business licence before the end of this year.

“There will be no penalty given if they renew their licence before Dec 31 this year.

“The renewal can be done at the MBJB one-stop centre, MBJB office Jalan Dato’ Onn, MBJB Johor Jaya branch or via online at johor.ekhidmat.my,” he added.
