Rangers run gambling awareness classes for players

Rangers have become the first football club in Scotland to run gambling education sessions for their players.

The programme was designed especially for top-level athletes. The men’s first team, women’s team and selected academy squads have all taken part in separate sessions.

Regulations in Scotland ban players from betting on football in any capacity, from the Lowland League to international matches, regardless of whether or not it is a league the player has connections to. Players will be punished by the Scottish Football Association (SFA) if they are caught gambling.

The punishment can include a ban, a fine, or the possibility of criminal charges, depending on the nature of the offence.
